Piet Rozendaal has been guest at the lodge site in February 2009. Generously he has agreed for using his painting of Scarlet Macaws to print postcards to be sold at US$ 10 each to the benefit of the Rehabilitation Project of Zoo Ave located at Playa San Josecito.

Piet Rozendaal, born in 1946 in Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands, is an expert on exotic birds. The artist, charmed by the work of the Englishman John Gould and the Australian illustrator William Thomas Cooper, describes his style as photographic. "I try to paint animals as much detailed as possible." For inspiration and to portray the birds so accurately as possible, Rozendaal visits regular their natural habitats, such as the virgin forests of Brazil and Peru.
